They're ready to have us walk the hallowed halls and bring some smiles to the children in the wards.
Just so the facts are out for anyone who has not done this yet, this isn't like other public troops where they are lots of kids running around wanting to play 'lightsaber' or cameras clicking so fast you don't know where to turn.

Yes, there are a few cameras, but they're mostly ours or some of the parents hanging around in their child's room.

We go right into their rooms many times or wave from the door. Most are able to respond, some are not. It's quiet.

But, when you see some of the kids' faces, it's fantastic. Parents often say, "thank you" with tears.

I've given more information than usual here (usually stick with only the facts, but there are many new folks who haven't joined or trooped yet). This is a good way to start. The only costume requirements are they be good. Not needed to be approved for 501st membership, but they do need to be ok'd by CCG admin. So before you try a new costume, remember to get a pic to an admin. person prior to the troop. It's very open (but the kids usually recognize basic movie characters best). They would rather not have children under 12 as some may not be accustomed to what we may encounter (PM me if any questions about this).

Also, if anyone has a cold/cough/sneezing, you shouldn't go.

Guns are not ok, even holstered. Please do not bring them. Lightsabers are well liked for hallway pics!

Time - we meet in the adjoining parking lot no later than 10:30 am, then walk across the road to get changed. We usually change in a large hall area, but there are a couple of rooms and corners (we don't peek! Cool) Usually, total time is about 2 hours.

The key is to take SW 6th Avenue toward the campus (this pdf map shows it as Terwillager, this map shows it as SW 6th Avenue) but continuing past a Shell gas station on the left and staying on that main road until it turns into SW Sam Jackson Park Road and following that up to the hospital until you come to a left that will be SW US Veterans Hospital Road; follow that to the upper end of DCH and a parking lot on the right near the Hearing Center.  That is where we should be.
