I can on honestly say your perception of children is pretty uninformed and unfortunate. The reason kids may like stuff like this is because they are constantly fed drivel like this and therefore expect nothing better in life than this. It is sad to me. Children are more perceptive than adults, have better abilities to retain information, have the ability to learn multiple languages, and are more intuitive and curious about life, the universe, and everything than adults are. They are usually cut down and maimed by societal, commercialize poopiness such as this that drives their abilities away. Kids can do better than clownish foolery. I tend to think it's the adults that wish to amuse themselves with such antics and blame it on the kids needing it.
Explain Episode I then!
My perception of children is uninformed, hmmm. Tell, me how many children do you having running around your place? How many children do you interact with - outside of a classroom setting?
I have a 3 year old brother (let me repeat that a 3 YEAR OLD BROTHER) that I see on a regular basis. I interact with him on a regular basis. My cousin's children are at young ages. I interact with them quite a bit. My perception of children is based on... I dunno... what I see when I am engaged with them. Kids like kid things. The silliness, the goofiness, it is all part of that magical world that they are growing up in, developing in. As they grow older, their perceptions change to a more mature manner.
I remember when Episode I came out. I do believe that those who groaned about Episode I were the adults. The kids loved everything about it, it was a story that was geared for them, just as the originals were geared toward us when we were younger. The dynamic that is Star Wars is that there is something for all ages in the movies. The silliness for the kids and the more serious storyline for us adults to enjoy.
I wasn't bothered by Episode I in the least. I actually appreciated it from kid in me. I am one of the few people who actually like the Jar Jar character.
So you don't like the Star Wars Weekends dancing. No big deal. I suppose it isn't for everybody. But there is no call to insult someone because they have a different take on the situation than you do. I think it is just a lot simpler to agree to disagree and move on.
