Actually, the Republic has Troopers and Smugglers as well as Jedi, but those haven't been released yet. The Empire (Sith) has Bounty Hunter and what is shaping up to be a Spy as well as a Sith. They are balancing the classes as they put them out. The Bounty Hunters and Troopers are evenly set with the heavy weapons, armor, and tactical play (though the tactics are different). The smuggler and spy will be evenly set as the "rogue" class. Not sure about the two sets of Jedi, though, as they haven't been released.
Bill, you can play as a Bounty Hunter. They are even talking about one of the specialization tracks being a Mando. But, I am going Trooper all the way. Nothing much like wading into the thick of it with a heavy repeater.
Oh, also every character will be able to get a companion NPC to fight alongside them. Similar to KOTOR, but you are limited to only one. Not sure about what they will do, but it sounds like a complementary set of skills to your character. Oh, and unlike KOTOR, this isn't based on the d20 D&D in Space (a.k.a. Wizards of the Coast Star Wars RPG).
I am serious about doing the soldier costume for a midnight release. It doesn't look that difficult. Heck, Bioware is looking at hyping this game as much as TFU, more if they can. If that is the case, then I want to be a major part of it. Heck, I am trying to open a dialog with one of the artists who I already have a connection to. She's a freelance cover artist for Baen Books and my editor... well, I may get some access to some of the art workups that are not released yet.
My question is, does anyone want to try this on for size? So far, there are about seven costumes released. Most are armors, but there are also softies (like the soldier). What do ya say?
