Hello from Hillsboro
« on: November 13, 2022, 07:49:26 PM »
Hi all,  I'm Steve from Hillsboro.  I have 3d printed a Rogue One Stormtrooper armor set.  I am working on the last few tweaks as suggested by the guys over at Whitearmor.net pre approval forum.   Hopefully I'll have everything ready to submit soon.
This project started last spring when I bought my 3d printer.  I printed and finished a test stormtrooper helmet.  It turned out good so I decided to go big and print a complete armor set.  The printer ran all summer and I was able to greet trick or treaters this Halloween as a ROTK. It was a lot of fun.
I look forward to Joining the 501st and trooping with you all.

I saw your armor on that forum last week. I'm have no say in what gets approved but it looks very ready.

Welcome to the forums! I also saw your pre-approval post on FISD and your 3d printed armor looks really impressive! Not a print line in sight, nice work!  :tk:

You put that Prusa through some serious work! What material did you print your armor? Again, fantastic work and looking forward to seeing your submission and likely approval soon!

Yeah I gave the Prusa a work out for sure.  After some testing of different filaments ABS, PETG and PLA Plus I went with Esun PLA Plus. (almost 11 rolls) It prints great and is very strong and flexible.  The downside is heat.  I won't be leaving it in my car on a 100 deg day.

Yeah, PLA isn't the nest choice for trooping armor. I have seen it warp time and time again. PETG is the bare minimum IMHO. Welcome BTW lol
