Process to submit your costume:
1. Make sure your costume meets the minimum requirements set forth in the 501st Costume Reference Library (CRL) (
http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:CRL)
2. Take pictures that illustrate those minimum requirements that will show your evaluator precisely what they need to see.
Pictures needed:
• Front view
• Back view
• Side views
• Action shot
• Bucket off
• Costume detail pics as needed per your CRL
Your Action Shot and the Bucket off shots will be used for your Roster Profile on both the Garrison and Legion web pages. Here are some tips for taking good photos, both for GML evaluation and GWL editing for roster images:
• Make sure your photo is High Resolution.
• Don’t use Portrait Mode or any other filters on your camera
• Take your photo in front of a plain backdrop that is a contrasting color to your costume. For most Imperial costumes, it’s best to avoid white, black, grey, or red backdrops. Avoid photos in front of trees/bushes (this means you, Biker Scouts), patterned curtains, and doors.
• Make sure your photo is well lit. Even costumes like Sith Lords and Jawas that have light sources prominent in the costume should be in a well lit room.
• If your costume includes a helmet, we highly encourage you to take your bucket off photo first (Helmet hair is a thing!).
• Do not have any non-character items on your person in your photos. This pertains to cell phones, pets, small children, food, utensils, etc. Non-character items in the background are ok, since those will be cropped out; but we cannot use a mirror selfie with your cell phone in the middle of the shot for your roster pic.
3. Start a new topic here and post your submission photos
4. If you are a brand new 501st member, you'll need to fill out the application to the 501st (
http://501st.com/members/join_form.php)
Once you have started your thread and posted your pictures, a Garrison Membership Liaison (GML) will reach out to you to let you they are evaluating your submission. A GML may contact you for additional pictures if they can't see the required details in your costume. The GMLs do their best to get to submissions as quick as they can, however, they also have family and job commitments they need to meet as well, so please be patient If you haven't heard from someone within 3 days of your submission, please reach out to one of us and we will look into it. Approval times do vary per costume. Typically we can get them done within a week if the costume has all the necessary requirements.
Feel free to reach out to the GML team with questions.
Thank you!! Keep up the good work troopers!
