This might interest folks....
« on: February 26, 2008, 10:59:11 AM »
Someone from the Stargate yahoo group that I am part of posted about this. I don't propose this as an event to troop, but it could be something cool to go check out.

This is what they posted:

"2nd year First Tech Robotics Challenge is on March 2, Sunday, at Glencoe Highschool,
Hillsboro Oregon, if anyone is interested in watching the tournament it is open to the public
12:00-4:00 pm. Pls. see link below."

Here is a website for this Tech Robotic Challenge below:

http://www.ortop.org/vex.htm#tournament

If I get moved a settled in and there are no other issues to deal with, I may go check this out. It could be pretty cool to go see. I thought maybe there may be some others interested in checking this out.

Go to yahoo groups and look for Stargate.... or you can go to my myspace page. I have a friend on there with the screen name of LadyIce69 or something like that.... she's a gate geek and get give you some more info on the group.

But you are missing the point... this is a robot building contest. This could be something cool to see.

It was interesting.... but honestly, kind of boring. It basically consisted of robot teams from various lacales competing in a points -driven system. The object was to be graded on what the robot design could do - or rather how effectively the design acheived the goal of collecting the most amount of rings in the allotted time frame. After the first two rounds we, Kyle, Tigor and I were pretty much ready to go. So Kyle, Tigor and I hung out for the rest of the day. All-in-all, not a bad day just to go hang out.
