Gree progress update
« on: September 29, 2007, 08:46:18 AM »
Hi everyone!

Been working my butt off with teaching.  I have 4 classes, which is twice as many as I've ever taught at one time before.  I have a stack of papers about a mile high that need graded this weekend, so naturally I'm posting here instead.

I've only had a few hours here and there to work on Gree, but he's coming along.  My brother and sister came to visit me last weekend (yay!), and they helped out a LOT.  Kirk did a ton of wiring work on my bucket, and it's nearly ready to roll.  I just need to install the visor with something a little better  than masking tape  and then mount some of the wiring with something other than masking tape (do you see a theme here?)  lol   We decided that the green motorcycle visor wasn't dark enough, so I got some tinting stuff from a window tinting shop.  They wouldn't install it--said they couldn't without getting bubbles in it.  But they gave me some, so now I need to put it on without bubbles.  Right.  Haven't quite gotten to that yet.

My sister worked on cutting out the tops for my boots, and she glued everything on while I was wearing the boots.  Since she just had surgery on her shoulder about a week before she was in a sling, which made things much harder for her.  I spend a lot of time with my foot pretty much in her lap so she could reach.     She did a great job though--I am really happy with my boots.

Anyway, without further ado, here are some pics.  Why oh why can I never take GOOD pictures?    :(

Looking good, Theresa! Have you had a chance to troop or meet up with the Bloodfin Garrison yet?

Thanks everyone!  You're helping keep me motivated.  :)

I haven't installed the visor permanently yet,  but this is the motorcycle visor I will use.  It isn't as green as I'd hoped (it's sort of rainbow-ey), but it's mostly green.

I've met Bloodfin a few times.  Overall they are very friendly and have been very welcoming.  In some ways I think they are a little TOO friendly.  The one time I trooped with them was at a con, and we trooped for about an hour before everyone just wanted to get out of armor and hang out at the bar.  Yeah I like socializing with my 501st buddies,  but being in armor is the whole reason I'm there.  I'll have to see how future events work out.

They didn't have a Fett when I showed up, so they were excited that I was coming.  Then, within two months, two Fetts joined the garrison.  Sigh.  I really need to get Gree done!   :?
