I know I know this non Star Wars related, but I had to share.
My wife Rachel and I got hooked on this short made for Sci-fi channel mini series. I gave her a "Lost Room" surprise birthday party on the 17th. For those of you familiar with this program you will understand the concept. For those of you who haven't seen it yet, rent it, its awesome!
I found a forum of fans from all around the world and had them send postcards from the motel signed the "occupant "from Spain, Seattle, Maryland, DC... arriving the week before her birthday. The concept was to make it seem like he was using his key...The night of, we went to dinner and toward the end I had the LDS missionaries show up as secret service types with a briefcase. They pulled out a polaroid of her in the motel room and asked if the woman in the picture was her, then presented her with the case. They opened it for her and left. In the case was the motel room key and a DVD marked "watch this now". We went out to the van and I fired up the laptop and we watched it. Here is what she watched:
We then went to our home where family and the "disappeared" guests were waiting. I recreated the door from the series and replaced our front door with the motel room door. The people inside shined flashlights at the opening as she opened the door with the key. Then they all shouted Surprise !! Happy Birthday!! Then ate cake and watched the DVD, as they hadn't seen it yet. With a few minor glitches, all in all I pulled it off. She did not suspect it, even with the postcards.
