Terminator Salvation
« on: May 24, 2009, 08:34:07 PM »
First I want start off by say I absolutely HATE Christian Bale. I think
he is a pompous dirt bag with no acting talent, or perhaps he only has the ability
to perform one character. The only reason why, I believe, That
"The Dark Knight" was such a hit is that, like the first Keaton Batman,
it had an excellent supporting cast. The only reason I went to see it is
I've always wanted to see the Terminator story line told from the future
aspect. Now with that being said lets talk "Terminator Salvation."

I'd give it a four out of five star rating.
A: It has several rookie mistakes that I wouldn't
expect from a big budget film. For example when Marcus Wright is walking through
the city, the first time he encounters a terminator, the blue screen background work
is TERRIBLE. Lens flair is another big one. What the heck? I don't want to be blinded by a film.
Somebody should slap the dodo out of the person who thought it was a good idea to
blind the viewers.... Also somebody should have worked a little harder on the
Arnold digital work. When he first comes onto the screen he looks cross eyed.

2: I thought the Marcus Wright terminator, but didn't know what he was, story line
was pretty cool. Although I think at the end of the film, where he tore the micro-
chip out of his head was pretty stupid. He should have just converted to bad guy.

D: The Terminators were pretty cool. I liked the mech thing, and the motor cycles.
Also the inclusion of Michael Ironside was awesome. He's a Sci-Fi giant in my book
and always plays the prick/hero so well.
I'll probably see it again to look for goodies gumdrops and Easter eggs.

I'm glad you liked it, Cooter. I am so turned off of the whole Terminator series that I really have no desire to go see the movie. I actually like Christian Bale, just not enough for me to sit through a couple of hours of drivel I have no desire to see.

I may watch it when it comes out on network tv, which will be what, 3 years?

I'm with you on the Christian Bale thing. I was much more interested in Marcus' story. John Connor? Who cares? Anton Yelchin? Yes please. I enjoyed the first hour of the movie... sort of. I thought the script was incredibly lacking. It catered to an audience that needed to be spoon-fed the obvious details. This kind of wore on me... I love the Terminator franchise, but this wasn't really what I thought it would be. I had a handful of other problems with this movie, but it was overall a positive action experience.

I'm with Tony, I think it could have been alot better. No terminator movie will beat T2, that was the best out of the series I think.

Here's a Skynet question.  Why did Skynet have to make a big, white room with monitors and control consoles that were obviously made for bipedal money folk to stand at and interface?

Not a big fan of this movie.  As mentioned before, I don't like to be spoonfed a plot, and the glaring horrible scene edits took me several minutes to catch back up.  I also didn't care for the rehash of the T2 plotline... Nor the Matrix 2 idea of "let's set this up for a sequel!"

I doubt I'll see any future productions...

Oh yeah, and to continue what Martin stated... Why would machines built HKs with human interface?  I.e. Build them so humans, who they are trying to wipe out, can fly them?

Or the HK bikes that people can ride?  Huh?  Why?  Oh, and when they run themselves they have no gears but when Christian Bale rides they have a higher pitch and gears shifting.

So the humanoid terminators can have a fast infiltration method.

Oh, and when they run themselves they have no gears but when Christian Bale rides they have a higher pitch and gears shifting.

I assume that was a special effects boo boo. When you see them running themselves they are CGI but when Bale is riding its
probably a modded motorcycle.

i agree with you on christian bale!  His acting in batman wasn't actually all too good I've been a hardcore batman fan my whole 18 years lol And i know for a fact that the movie was placed in the darkest point of batman's crime fighting era (well technically it was in the middleish beggining but anywho) I felt he did not get the feeling across very well.  Besides the real star of the movie was the Joker.

As for the terminator series once it got too the third one of the series i began to lose my interest after seeing arnold naked.  Salvation looks promosing with the action aspect as for the story i guess I'd have to watch it to find out for myself.

Also i heard a rumor that there's is a robot that is in like a tank in the movie that resembles arnold schwarzenager?  Anyone heard of this?

P.S. I am sry if other people dissagree with me this is just my point of view  :D

I'm with you on the Terminator series. I thought the series ended on a good note with T2. Sometimes less is more. Then they came out with T3, which in my opinion was terrible. It was like they thought they could fluff up a second-rate story with some hot chick and some pretty cool special effects. I know they tried to bring the story full-circle, but they failed miserably.

Which is why the franchise needed T4. But, to me, the damage has already been done. I couldn't get into the Sarah Connor Chronicles because it was a little bit more of the same jibberish that I saw in T3.

Again, my own personal opinion. A lot of my friends think I'm nuts because I have no desire to see another Terminator movie. I don't care if it has Arnie in it or not. The franchise has lost its appeal to me.

The only thing that would make me want to see this movie is that I actually like Christian Bale, as an actor. But to be honest, it really isn't enough to make me want to see this movie.... maybe a rental, but probably not. I think I will wait until it hits network television.

Roland Kickinger was Arnolds body double.... he has been trying to be Arnold for years as a bodybuilding but just hasn't cut it, guess he settled for the next best thing.

Those working bikes in the movie were modified Ducati's, they were at a bike show in Bend this weekend.
