I don't think it is necessarily a bad thing for individual garrisons to have Facebook or Myspace pages. It is all about self-promotion and advertisement. Both of which are free on Facebook and Myspace.
Other (bigger) garrisons do it, too, and they don't seem to be having a problem with Facebook or Myspace pages from their sites... at least not as far as I can tell.
Recently, the Oregon FanForce has taken on having Facebook and Myspace pages. Anything to help promote the club can only be a good thing. Unless I am mistaken, itwas because of these other avenues that the OFF has gathered a new member, or two.
Just my opinion, but I wouldn't totally discount the benefit of having a Facebook or Myspace page....
